The abstract submission guidelines are intended to provide clear instructions for the abstract submission. Prospective authors are encouraged to read the guidelines below carefully. The Free Paper Committee and Advisory Board reserve the right to reject any abstract that does not meet the requirements or is in violation of them. All accepted abstracts will be published in a special issue of the Malaysian Family Physician Journal.

  • The Free Paper Committee invites the submission of original scientific material.
  • We only accept abstracts that have never been published AND / OR presented at any conference before, at the time of the abstract submission deadline.
  • For abstracts with NMRR registration, please state the NMRR ID.
  • Research types and topics:
    • Clinical study/ trial: Research that reports epidemiological data, specific disease states (e.g., risk factors of a disease, evaluation of diagnostic techniques and therapies), data about the safety or benefits of a primary care intervention (e.g., medications, training method, teaching concept, behavioral change, etc.) in human subjects.
    • Clinical case report/ case series: Reports that have practical, novel or innovative learning points from primary care cases (Poster only).
    • Quality improvement initiative study: Research with a framework to systematically improves patients’ care (e.g., clinical audit programmes) (Poster only).
    • Community project: Project done at the community level aimed at raising awareness, providing education or improving certain clinical conditions (e.g., screening or intervention programmes) (Poster only).
    • Systematic and scoping review: Comprehensive review of literature that synthesizes quality and practical evidence in primary care (Poster only for scoping review).
    • Translational research: Research that reports data about the translation of preclinical knowledge into clinical applications (e.g., phase 1 clinical trials).
  • Do not submit the same study in multiple abstracts. Abstracts that appear in more than one version of a single study will be rejected.
  • Abstracts should be submitted in clear British English (BrE) to allow the reviewers to focus on the scientific content of the abstract.
  • Abstract text: Limited to 250 words.
  • Abstracts should be checked for grammar and spelling errors. Abstracts cannot be modified once submitted.
  • All abstract submissions must strictly follow the template provided. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification.
  • The deadline for abstract submission is 30th April 2026. FMSC registration and participation are compulsory for all corresponding/ presenting authors of the submitted abstracts.

The abstract submitted should have significant content in the field of primary care. A panel of local experts will review the abstracts for necessary revisions and suitability before accepting the final version for submission. A maximum of 250 abstract submissions will be accepted, with priority allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no limit to the number of submissions per participant. The corresponding or presenting author will receive a confirmation of acceptance for oral or poster presentation via email by 15 June 2026. Authors of abstracts selected for oral and poster presentations will be informed about the date of the session, and presentation guidelines will be provided.

Any 28th Family Medicine Scientific Conference’s committee members who wish to submit an abstract must follow the conditions below:

  • The paper must consist of other authors who are not committee members; AND
  • For both oral and poster submission, the corresponding or presenting author must not be a committee member; AND
  • For oral presentation, the presenter must not be a committee member.

Completion of FMSC registration and payment should be made by 15 July 2026. If the author wishes to withdraw their abstract, they are requested to do so in writing via email to the Free Paper Committee secretariat before 15 July 2026.

Prior to abstract submission, ensure that the following are agreed upon by all authors:

  • They are aware that their names will appear on the abstract and all authors agree to the submission and presentation of the results.
  • They understand that the poster and/or oral presentation may be photographed, videotaped and/or recorded via other media means during the conference.
  • Understand that all possible patent and copyright issues must be resolved before submission.
