Dr. Suriya Devi Gurunathan is a Family Medicine Specialist with a special interest in Custodial Health and primary care. She has undergone subspecialty training in Custodial Health, including a visiting fellowship at Western Sydney University and an observership with Justice Health and Mental Health, Sydney, Australia. She is actively involved in the development of Custodial Health as an Area of Interest within Family Medicine and contributes to training guideline development in this field. She is a member of several professional organisations, including the Academy of Family Physicians Malaysia, Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, Family Medicine Specialist Association Malaysia, and Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine, UK. Her contributions include research publications, academic presentations, mentoring, examination, curriculum and handbook development, and participation in professional committees. She has also contributed to research in sleep quality, mental health among antenatal patients, and custodial healthcare.
