Dr. Firdaus Binti Datuk Abdul Gani is a Consultant Psychiatrist (UD15) and Head of the Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health at Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah. She holds an MBBS from University of Malaya, Masters in Medicine (Psychiatry) from Universiti Sains Malaysia, and is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Malaysia. She has a special interest in Community and Rehabilatation Psychiatry with over 20 years of experience in clinical psychiatry, research, and community mental health. She has been elected as the Secretary for Malaysian Psychiatric Association from 2028 till 2020 .Dr. Firdaus has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to national clinical practice guidelines, including the 2019 Malaysian CPG for Major Depressive Disorder 2nd edition, 2014 Guidelines in Suicide Risk Management in MOH hospitals and Implementation guideline for Community Psychiatric Team (2nd edition) in 2026. She has also written articles in Malaysian Medical Gazzete,, “Diari Psikiatri”column in Mingguan Malaysia and Astro Awani online. Dr. Firdaus is actively involved in teaching and mentoring not only for psychiatry but also for Quality assurance programs. She has received multiple awards recognizing her excellence in clinical service, mental health promotions and quality improvement activities from Ministry of Health.
